Early German Music in Philadelphia (Classic Reprint)

Excerpt from Early German Music in PhiladelphiaWhile confining myself to secular music, I thought it necessary in the first period to treat Somewhat in detail the religious music, especially as the religious music was of more importance in the first half century than the secular music. So, too, I have gone into detail somewhat more in the first two periods than in the last, be cause these periods have not been so thoroughly investigated as the last period has. It may be objected by some, that I have not adequately considered the concert life of the last period. To these I Would Say that this period has been fully covered by O. G. Sonneck in his Early Concert Life in such a manner that I, at least, could not improve upon it.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
