Don't Do This At Home is a collection of short stories of innocent mischief relating to, mostly, my youth. I was born in 1949 and have always argued that people of my generation had the best of times. Jobs were plentiful, there were no personal computers or 'I' phones and social media consisted of people talking to each other, writing letters or using up pennies in the all-important red telephone box that each village had. Tertiary education was free and the family GP would see you at home. There were no supermarkets and villages were full of shops...and pubs! Police officers walked the beat and every village had its own police station. There was true community spirit with unlocked doors and twitching curtains.
I, like most of my generation, made my own fun. On a weekend, free from school, I would be out for hours exploring far and wide and only return home when it was tea time. It is, in the main, these times that the stories in this book are all about...making my own fun and often getting up to innocent mischief. The stories are not in any form of chronological order and one can dip into them as and how one wishes. I hope you enjoy.
