Excerpt from Diseases of Melons and Cucumbers During 1903 and 1904Not being satisfied with the information that I had been able to obtain by means of correspondence and personal interviews with some of the growers, and the few specimens of diseased leaves, I visited a number of the melon and cucumber fields in the vicinity of Arroyo, Wellsburg, Point Pleasant, Elwell and Mercer's Bot tom, ' some of them only. Once, others at intervals of about a month. At these several places and intermediate points I collected speci mens and took notes on the diseases of melons and cucumbers. Ou the specimens collected I have found several species of fungi attacking both the vines and the fruits. I am indebted to the growers whom I met for their kind treatment and valuable infor mation, especially to Mr. H. C. Brenneman of Arroyo, Mr. S. C. Gist of Wellsburg, Mr. R. L.
