Excerpt from Directory: Women of the Church, Presbytery of Concord, Synod of North Carolina, Presbyterian Church in the United States, Second Annual Meeting, April 3, 4, 5, 1973The Leadership Training School for Area I was held September 24th, 1972 at the First Presbyterian Church in Winston - Salem. Of the 15 active churches, (18 total) in Area One, 12 were represented at this meeting, with a total of 80 in attendance. There were 10 local presidents and 3 presbyterial Council members present. The Discovery groups, led by the Area Representatives, were very well administrated and many good reports were received from those attending.As Area Chairman, I have visited seven churches, speaking several times to the women, and I have found the women to be eager and receptive to their calling. It is evident that the ever present problem of communication and motivation continues in all churches. Many of the women are seeking to know Jesus Christ in a personal way that they have not experienced before, and have been participating in prayer groups. Two churches, in particular, have several groups meeting on different days in order that their women can find a group that fits into her time schedule, as well as fulfilling her individual needs. I have been able to observe many who attend these groups, and I can see these women change from a life of frustration to a life of peace and joy.All Area Representatives have kept in contact with the local Program Chair men, and two of them have invited the local chairmen to their homes for mini retreats (morning coffee) to share together their successes as well as their problems. A similar 2 hour period was held last fall for the Presidents. Each one attending was given an opportunity to search out the purpose of Key '73 and to look at themselves in the light of that purpose, that is, proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
