DIE JIM CROW, THE EP BOOK is a companion to the six-song Die Jim Crow EP, an album recorded at Warren Correctional Institution, a close-security state prison in Ohio, and with formerly incarcerated artists in New York and Philadelphia. The EP and EP Book are part of the larger Die Jim Crow project, a full-length concept album about racism in the U.S. prison system written and performed by formerly and currently incarcerated black musicians from across the country. The EP Book provides a visceral experience of what Die Jim Crow is about, featuring lyrics, artwork, photos, hand-inked notes, recipes, and relevant writing that documents and celebrates the making of the record. Designed with a graphic novel appeal, DIE JIM CROW EP BOOK is a beautiful 182-page, 8 x 8 full-color book edited by Fury Young, the producer of Die Jim Crow, and illustrated by Mark B. Springer and other prison artists, and includes a download code for the EP.
