The book presents the conclusions from research on long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFAs).These conclusions were critically examined by a group of leading pediatricians, nutritionists, experts in visual science and developmental behavioral scientists at a "Dobbing Workshop" held in the United States in late February 1997. Each of the chapters were pre-circulated to the whole group, commented on before the Workshop, and then exhaustively discussed. The chapters and commentaries have therefore undergone a more extensive peer-review process than is usually the case.This work examines state-of-the-art information in this area and covers the recent debate on the inclusion of certain fatty acids in baby formula.
