Following the lead at New York where sharp declines occurred the previous week conditions at all points rapidly assumed the characteristics of very weak unsettled markets. Speculative interest which developed temporarily bolstered up the market at one time, but these prices could not be maintained, and at the close of the week it was clearly evident that no firm conviction as to the maintenance of existing price levels prevailed.
