Because of reported inconsistencies, crime data for the city of Chicago have been excluded from the statewide totals. However, the city's figures are presented in a separate section. Due to reporting problems, we are unable to publish 1982 statistics for Joliet.Administration of the Uniform Crime Reporting Program entails monthly submissions by law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois. When correlated and analyzed, these statistics constitute a comprehensive body of knowledge that significantly contributes to management and planning capabilities at the local, state, and federal levels. In recent years, that contribution has become more important as general economic constraints require all sectors of law enforcement to seek optimum results With available resources.Since its implementation, the Uniform Crime Reporting Program has achieved both qualitative and quantitative advances through the dedication and cooperation of participating agencies.
