Constructed Wetlands for the Treatment of Landfill Leachates

Angebote / Angebote:

Wetlands For The Treatment Of Landfill Leachates is a collection of papers recently presented at an international symposium held in June of 1997. This volume which will be edited by Dr. Mulamoottil, will contain 19 chapters addressing the most recent research regarding leachates and the use of wetlands in treating them. The utilization of constructed wetlands for the treatment of wastewater is becoming more frequent and constructed wetlands are now an important component in the treatment of landfill leachates. The purpose of the symposium and the proposed book was/is to assemble the results and experiences of this relatively new ecotechnological approach to wastewater treatment. A number of important issues are addressed such as: leachate characteristics and the potential for treatability by constructed wetlands, the assessment of the tolerance of wetland plants to the toxicity of leachates in differing climates, the role of plants in the treatment of leachates, the performance of different wetland treatment systems as well as cost comparisons using wetland technology vs. traditional treatment technologies. The authors of each chapter come from a variety of backgrounds and parts of the world and include a number of well known professionals in this area. Included in this volume are papers by Robert Kadlac (author of Treatment Wetlands, CRC Press), Gerald Moshiri (Constructed Wetlands for Water Quality Improvement, CRC Press) and a number of other well-known professionals doing work in this area. This work is a worthwhile addition to the literature already published regarding constructed wetlands and will compliment our already substantial list in this area. Dr. Mulamoottil is an experienced editor and well known for his work in this area. TOC:Landfill Leachate Characteristics as Inputs for the Design of Wetlands Used as Treatment Systems, Edward A.
