From amongst the several testimonies of the esteem in which their former endeavours have been held, it may suffice, to avoid the charge of self-eulogy, to select the following, which, coming from the high authority of French mathematical criticism, must be considered at once as the more decisive and impartial. It has been said by one of the first geometers of France, that "L'edition de Glasgow fait honneur aux presses de cette ville industrieuse. On peut affirmer que jamais l'art typographique ne rendit un plus bel hommage a la memoire de Newton.
