In 1704, following the dedication of the new organ that Eugenio Casparini built for the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Görlitz, Christian Ludwig Boxberg published a detailed description of the instrument. Boxberg's booklet, one of the earliest printed descriptions of a specific organ, enjoyed a wide circulation and spread a favorable impression of the organ far beyond its immediate locale. It included an engraving of the organ case, the stoplist of the organ, information about the organ's builder, a report on various innovations in the organ, and descriptions of the sounds of individual ranks of pipes. This annotated translation of Boxberg's booklet includes a facsimile of the original. It provides information about the author and the organ builder.
