It is a child of Providence, and has been a continual surprise to friends, patrons and all. It began with nothing six years ago. To-day it is the largest and strongest Institution of Learning in Central Kansas, and at the present rate of growth it will be the largest and most promi nent denominational Institution in the State within a year. The courage and enterprise of the management, the high qualifications of the Faculty, the beautiful and central location, the well-known strength of our Church, the high order of intel ligence of our patrons, and a kind Providence, are the factors in the wonderful and inspiring. Development of this Institution. Our aim has constantly been to make Bethany an Institu tion of the people and for the people. It is not the privi leged Institution of the rich and aristocratic only, with expenses too great and spirit too proud for the sons and daughters of the people. Our charges are moderate. The spirit of our Institu tion is that of Christian equality and liberality. Our courses are practical and thorough, such as the coming man and woman of this age are needing. Our students have the privilege and opportunity of choosing a course that suits their special purposes. Persons expecting to get a seven years' course in two years will find no encouragement here. Our endeavor is to make the diplomas of this Institution mean what they say. Not to make them the ¿ashy and meaningless orna ment of a conceited and superficial mind. A thorough and liberal education cannot be acquired without hard and persist ent work.
