Excerpt from Catalogue of Books Recommended for Public and Separate School Libraries The duty of providing a school library rests, not on the teacher alone, but upon the trustees and the inspector as well. Under the Regulations (equipment, sec. Each school is required to have, subject to the approval of the inspector: (i) a library containing an atlas, a gazetteer, and an English reference dictionary of British standard for each classroom, (ii) the books prescribed by the Text-book Regulations 3 and 11, and, sub-sec. On the recommendation of the inspector, additional works for school libraries, selected from lists recommended by the Minister and by the inspector with the Minister's approval. As a matter of law and moral obligation, teacher and trustee and inspector should cc - operate in building up and maintaining a worthy school library.
