Excerpt from Canadian Electrical News and Engineering Journal, 1909, Vol. 18The contract under which the light for the city streets is supplied by the Montreal Light, Heat Power Com pany terminated on Dec. 31. The gas lighting contract will terminate in May, 1910. In order that a new con tract might cover both forms of lighting, the city recently asked for a renewal of the electric franchise from Dec. 3lst until May, 1910. This was refused-by the power company, which offered an extension of two months, until February next, the price for the lights during the extension to be the price agreed on after arbitration for a new contract.
