D. 1574-1581Morton's letter of the 16th of August1 to Elizabeth contains no reference to this matter, and those to Leicester and Burghley2 of the same date Show nothing more than that he had committed the matter verbally to Killigrew. Two memoranda, dated the 16th of August, 3 were brought with the three letters of the same date by Killigrew on his return to London shortly after, in the first of which there is no mention of the matter whatever, and in the latter he merely requested him to ask Elizabeth what further is to be looked for in that which passed between them at Aber deen touching the matter of greatest moment.No further documents with regard to the great matter have been found.
