Excerpt from Calendar of State Papers, Colonial Series, 1574 1660: Preserved in the State Paper Department of Her Majesty's Public Record OfficePrevious to the decision of the Master of the Rolls to have a Calendar of the Colonial papers prepared for publi cation, upon the same principles as those already published of the Domestic series, the former were arranged under two distinct heads, viz., America and West Indies, or the correspondence appertaining to the Colonial Office, and containing letters to and from the several Governors and the Secretary of State, and Board of Trade, being the correspondence with that department, and each colony was arranged by itself chronologically. It has been found, however, more convenient for the simplification of a printed Calendar to alter this arrangement as regards the papers down to 1688, and to adopt one chronological arrangement of the whole, at the same time all the papers relating to each particular colony may be seen at a glance by reference to the Index.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
