D. 1740, A Sketch of the Kumler Family, and Incidents in the Life and Travels of the Author The Zeller and Kumler families were Germans. Both were originally from Switzerland, a hardy race of people, and both were of high moral and religious character. Both Grandfather Kumler and Grandfather Zeller's brother were Bishops in the United Brethren church. The latter had nine children - four boys and five girls, the former had eleven - seven boys and four girls. These families did a great deal towards founding the United Brethren church. Bishop Zeller assisted in forming the first Annual Conference in Ohio. He emigrated to the state in 1805. Kumler emigrated in 1819, and located in the northern part of Butler country, while the former located about twenty miles father north, in Montgomery country.
