Beggars Can Be Chosen

Angebote / Angebote:

Beggars Can Be Chosen probes the encounters of Christ and those He invited to follow Him. The book, while providing expository comment, is fundamentally designed as a source of practical application for our daily Christian walk. There is a dual objective in Beggars Can Be Chosen: How is Jesus inviting us to follow Him? How does Jesus invite others to Himself through us? Traveling chronologically through the life of Christ, the text takes the reader on a stirring journey. The stories vary in pace and emphasis, but the focus stays true to the objective. Beggars Can Be Chosen draws from a wealth of classic and contemporary sources of insight and information. Anecdotes, textual explanations, and stinging discourse provide moving meditations. Examples of ministries following Christ's example are displayed. Readers will know they have turned their attention to the Master Inviter. Chris Maxwell, Campus Pastor of Emmanuel College, has served more than twenty years in pastoral ministry. He writes articles, curriculum, reviews, and devotionals for a variety of publications, including Charisma, Today's Pentecostal Evangel, IssacharFile, Enrichment, LIVE, Christian Retailing, Ministries Today, The Orlando Sentinel, Faith Café and many others. In addition to pastoring, Chris teaches and speaks at colleges, hospitals, ministries, and writer's conferences. Chris' latest book, Unwrapping His Presence, is a collection of stories and poems for the Christmas season, a difficult time for many people. It contains honest words of hope, reminding readers of Christ's entry into our world and our lives. His book Changing My Mind chronicles Chris' battle with the life-changing experience of encephalitis and the long-term effects of epilepsy. God has used his disability to bring hope to many hurting people. A Grandmother's Touch by Traci Mullins (Vine Books, 2001) includes Chris' story about his grandmother, "MamaBee." Many read his e-mail devotional, "Another Day Along the Way." For more on Chris Maxwell, visit www.chrismaxwellweb.com. Chris and his wife, Debbie, who teaches at Lavonia Elementary, have three sons: Taylor, Aaron and Graham. Taylor is a missionary and worship leader. He and his wife, Brittany, have one son, Anthem. They live in Denver, CO. Aaron, who graduated from Emmanuel College in 2010, serves as an RA at a school in Taejon, South Korea. He is married to another Emmanuel graduate, Amber Evans Maxwell. Graham is a senior this year and a college basketball player.
