The books assesses quality of HIV/AIDS health information system (IS) in developing countries using a Tanzanian case. It is revealed that the system, practised in Tanzania is not robust enough to fulfil the criterion of effectiveness in providing information that should be used in some socioeconomic decision making. The book recommends that an elaborate information systems to collect quality HIV/AIDS data be put in place from the national level to village level. For without quality HIV/AIDS information systems there is a danger of mis-estimating the degree of the epidemic. For example, relying on the current antenatal surveillance information may not be a tenable strategy because the sample used is not representative of the population to a good extent. This emanates from the fact that the women used in the sample should have participated in non- protective sex to become pregnant.
