Le Blanc (1864-1941) was a French novelist and writer of short stories known primarily for the creation of the character Arsene Lupin. This collection of two Arsene Lupin adventures (Chapters I-VI from 'The Blond Lady', and Chapters VII and VIII from 'The Jewish Lamp') is reprinted from the US English translation by George Morehead of 1910. The stories feature a match of wits between the French gentleman thief turned detective Lupin and Herlock Sholmes, a transparent reference to Sherlock Holmes, the hero of Conan Doyle's detective series, and were first published in the original French in the magazine 'Je sais tout' in1906-07 before appearing in book form, with modifications, in 1908.
