He joined the Campbell faculty in 1971 after 31 years of teaching classical Greek and Latin at Wake Forest University. At the time of his retirement from Wake Forest he was chairman of the Department of Classical Languages. He continued to teach at Campbell until 1980. He was born in Selma in 1900. He received his undergraduate training at Wake Forest College and went on to complete his m.a. And ph.d. Degrees at Columbia University.
