I quoted, in illustration, 'jacob sod pottage.' Why, said he, Brother I know what that means, I've dug sods many a time! He then pressed his point by appealing to his own case, saying, I was preaching from the text, they that are alive shall not prevent them that sleep, ' and having some peculiar Views on the resurrection, sustained them by 'prevent' in the sense to hinder. After service a friend said to me, Brother prevent' dont mean lo hinder, but I replied, Think I dont know what prevent means? It does mean to hinder. However, I found out afterward, that prevent does not mean to hinder. So I prove to you we must have a new Version.
