Consols for the foundation of a Prize to be called the Kaye Prize, to be given every fourth year to the graduate of not more than ten years' standing from his first degree, who shall write the best English Dissertation upon some subject or question relating to ancient Ecclesiastical History, or to the Canon of Scripture, or important points of Biblical criticism, the offer was accepted by Grace of the Senate, June 6, 1861, under the following conditions: "The Prize to consist of the accumulation of interest on the Capital sum during the four years preceding, and the successful Candidate to print and publish his Dissertation at his own expense, and to send ten copies to the Cathedral Library at Lincoln, and one copy to the Vice-Chancellor, the Regius Professor of Divinity, and each of the two Examiners." - From The Cambridge University Calendar.
