Ralph (he hates to be called Mr. Hill) is an eighty-four-year-old man living in the South East of England. He believes he has led a charmed life and tells the story of his childhood and growing up in a changing world. He then adds the story of the final hours of a Lancaster Bombing in which his brother was killed.
