Excerpt from Address on the Acts and Deliverances of the General Assembly of the Old School Presbyterian Church: During the Past Five Years, on the State of the CountryIn the General Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States, held in New York in 1862, the Committee to whom had been referred a number of papers on the state of the country, preface their Report, which was adopted as the action of the Church on the subject, with the remark, that in framing the resolutions, They have designed to leave no room for honest doubt, or even for invidious mis construction as to the hearty loyalty of this body to the Government of the United States. And further, There could have been no hesi tation under any circumstances in expressing now and always our car nest and abiding loyalty and devotion to our country, its Constitution and its laws, and to all its duly constituted authorities.
