Excerpt from A Treatise on the Law of Electric Lighting: With the Acts of Parliament, and Rules and Orders of the Board of Trade, a Model Provisional Order, and a Set of Forms, To Which Is Added a Description of the Principal Apparatus Used in Electric Lighting, With IllustrationsThis book consists of a short introduction, together with the Electric Lighting Act, 1882, and the incorporated statutes then follow. I have not reprinted or commented on the Lands Clauses Acts, nor the Acts enabling the local authorities to levy rates and borrow money, as these general powers have been well treated in other books, and would have taken up too much space. The October Rules of the Board of Trade, the model Proofs, the Memorandum of February 26th, and a specimen of one of the Provisional Orders lately issued by the Board of Trade, next follows. Then are inserted some specimens of forms most likely to be useful.The notes on Electricity at the end were at first divided up among the different sections. I subsequently thought it best to separate them. Without pretending to compete with more elaborate works I hepe they may be found useful.
