VIII., 2.I am about to leave the pastorate to which this church called me thirty years ago, and to enter upon a new field of labor. Looking back over this lengthened ministry, many facts are recalled that may be of interest to the present generation. The most ignorant and thoughtless of men ought also to learn something from an experience of thirty years. I find that certain convictions have been gaining in emphasis and power as the years have passed on, until they have reached the form of firm and settled conclusions.
