In paraffin the undercooling preceding solidification is scarcely observable. The constant-temperature phenomenon is also not as marked as in naphthalene, since paraffin is a mixture and the composition of the liquid changes as solidification proceeds. These experiments, however, have shown that, in general, the temperature will stay constant to within for about two min utes if the apparatus described is used.
