Kopar is a moribund, close to extinct, language spoken in three villages at the mouth of the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea. This work provides a detailed description of the language. It also discusses where rapid language shift has affected the structure of the language. Kopar is richly polysynthetic, with split ergativity based on mood, over which is laid a direct-inverse system based on a person hierarchy.
