This plan was abandoned as not consistent with the purposes of the book and instead lists of leading text-books have been inserted at the end of chapters or topics. While these will be found useful chie¿y to teachers by furnishing more ample statements of the law and as indexes to the decided cases, it is hoped that they will prompt and assist students to carry their studies further than the text.Wherever a con¿ict between the decisions of the several states has been indicated, the teacher should ascertain, or, if possible, have his students ascertain, the local law, to be noted on the margin of the book.
