Excerpt from A History of Canada for Public SchoolsPacific appear to destroy this view. There is abundance of evidence, however, that man appeared on the earth long before the-continents took on their present form, so that such a migration was possible in an age when the continents were connected by land. The strongest argument against this theory of migration is found in a study of languages. While it is clear that the languages of Europe and Asia point to a common source, there is no resemblance between these languages and those of the early inhabitants of America. This would favour the view that the people whom the early European explorers called Indians had their origin on this conti nent. The question is one which historians have not finally settled.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
