It is hoped that these departments may be added to in a later edition.The introduction is intended especially for students and classes in chemical German, but the sections on nomenclature should be of general interest.The author is indebted to many friends, most of them assistant editors of Chemical Abstracts, for information in their respective fields and for the loan of books.
