Excerpt from A Bibliography of the Historical Works of Dr. Creighton, Late Bishop of London, Dr. Stubbs, Late Bishop of Oxford, Dr. S. R. Gardiner and the Late Lord Acton: Edited for the Royal Historical SocietyThe following bibliographies were drawn up and systematised by Dr. W. A. Shaw. In the preparation of that of Dr. Creighton he was much aided by Mrs. Creighton that of Dr. Stubbs is mainly based on information collected by the Rev. W. H. Hutton, the materials for that of Dr. Gardiner were partly collected by Dr. C. H. Firth and Mrs. Gardiner, While, in regard to that of Lord Acton, Dr. Shaw has been assisted by the present Lord Acton, by Mr. R. V. Laurence, of Trinity College, Cambridge, and especially Mr. T. F. Wetherell, to Whom, as co-editor with Lord Acton Of the Rambler and Home and Foreign Review, and editor of the Ckrom'ele and Nari/z Britislz Review, the identification of his unsigned writings in those periodicals is due. The order followed is that of the dates at which the respective authors died. I do not Wish to evade the responsibility of a general direction, but the credit of a very laborious and, it is hoped, useful piece of work is due to Dr. Shaw.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
