Privately printed in 1824 for distribution among the Editor's friends, only thirty copies issued from the press, and, of these, half at least have found a permanent resting-place on the shelves of our large public or semi-public Libraries. The Editor was one of a band of quint Antiquarian Litterateurs, which included Maidment, Kinloch, Buchan, &c., , who devoted much time and labour to rescuing these unwritten conditions of the land, at the very period when they were sinking into oblivion.
