Excerpt from A Ballad BookIn an old scrap-book Mr Sharpe had been in the habit of pasting the stray notes on ballads and letters relating to them which he received from time to time from Sir Walter Scott. It was Mr Laing's wish that these scraps should be made public, as an illustration of the intercourse that went on between the two collectors.
