2084: Book Two Starship Houston
BücherAngebote / Angebote:
Sequel to Book One. After a week of being teleported in stages by Zeno and Her minions, Alice Roanoke, a young journalist and Ohio Reservist, arrives in Essen in the EU. She has a meeting with Cindi Nord of ESA and the two of them fly to Houston, Texas to meet Doctor Robert McGill, the Head of Psychology for NASA there. His job is to hire them as astronauts for the new starship Johnny Appleseed. This happens in May of 2084.
The USS "JAS" has the mission of trying to pass the speed of light, "c" with its unique and sinfully expensive Tokamak Fusion Drive... then to hopefully pass beyond our Kuiper Belt and then hopefully after a three month voyage reach Alpha Centauri. [ An old but logical genre cliche... ] The Captain is a Three Star officer called Fred Biederman. Short, aggressive and very smart, he has an intense aversion to Alice whom he and Dr. McGill suspect secretly of being an agent for aliens. There is also a gang of insurgents led by a mysterious and irritating thug from Europe - under the pay of Red China! To make matters even worse atomic war looms as the rival Great Powers of Earth demand justice and Space Access Rights for all Mankind, not just the selfish and rich Western Alliance of our snotty USA and nerdy Euro Union! Fear mounts as the launch data arrives.
What happens out in the Void shall be a surprise. Stay tuned to our savage dystopia.
